Coastal Stone Flooring, a custom blend of beautiful natural stones and a patent-pending epoxy that is hand-troweled over the existing concrete in your garage, was the result.

“We love it here. We love it so much, Luke and I started daydreaming about how we could be closer to our community,” Serena said. “Before we knew it, that daydreaming turned into an idea. I thought of how my father touched his community and wanted to do the same thing.”

Serena’s father is Russell Masetta, founder of Nature Stone. When he started the company over 30 years ago, he wanted to do more than just create an innovative new way to do flooring. He wanted to create a legacy, too, something he could pass down to his family. Something that would still be improving customers’ quality of life long after he’s gone. Something that would last.

With Luke and Serena founding Coastal Stone Flooring in their home of Charleston, SC, that dream has become a reality.

Serena and Luke know Nature Stone well. Both worked with Nature Stone for years, learning the business inside and out. They became experts on the patent-pending process used to turn all-natural river stones into a gorgeous new type of garage flooring. They saw firsthand how this innovative process improved the lives of the people who installed it in their homes. And they embraced the importance of doing right by the people they serve.

“My father’s focus has always been on providing for his family and on ensuring his customers walk away happy,” Serena said, “and those lessons have always stuck with me.”

This extends to giving back, too. For the Wilsons, it’s not just enough to have a local business. That business has to help lift everyone. With that in mind, Coastal Stone Flooring has already connected with a number of wonderful local charities, including Lowcountry Orphan Relief, Charleston County Animal Society, My Sister’s House, Waves 4 Women, East Cooper Community Outreach, The Asher House, Palmetto Paws, and North Charleston Dream Center.

“This is our home, and the people here are our neighbors,” Luke said, “so working with these amazing organizations has been an honor. It allows us to touch lives outside of business. We’re blessed to be able to do it.”

As for the business, the focus is on innovating so that all those friends and neighbors can have an improved quality of life. Coastal Stone Flooring uses the same techniques and technology that has helped make Nature Stone the award-winning brand it is.

Hand-selected, all-natural river stones are used for every floor. The stones are mixed with the patent-pending epoxy and then hand-troweled over existing concrete, sealing them in while also keeping the floor “breathable.” Moisture literally passes through it. Unlike concrete garage floors, it is not susceptible to pitting and cracking. Unlike epoxy paint floors, it won’t bubble, chip, or peel. It just stays beautiful year after year.
